🔔 Nominations open! UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award 2026. Deadline 23 June.

Published on May 27, 2026

Each year, the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award recognizes an individual, group, or organization that has shown extraordinary dedication in protecting and assisting refugees, internally displaced, or stateless people. As the United Nations' most prestigious humanitarian award, it celebrates those whose efforts make a lasting difference, with the global laureate and regional winners each receiving a monetary prize to further their important work.

In 2025, we honoured laureates from Cameroon, Iraq, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Mexico for their outstanding work, and their inspiring stories demonstrate how collective action can positively impact the lives of displaced and stateless communities.

Nominations for the 2026 Nansen Refugee Award are now open and will close on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.

Nominating someone takes only a few minutes and can be done through this online form in English, French, Spanish or Arabic. More information about the nomination and selection process can be found at https://www.unhcr.org/nominate.

You are also welcome to share nomination materials from our social media package through your platforms and networks. Please note that nominations must remain confidential and should not be shared with the nominee.
