Yemen: Escalating fighting and mass displacement put civilians at grave risk

On 14 September 2026, 19 aid organisations operating in Yemen issued a joint statement expressing deep concern over the sharp escalation in fighting across Taiz and the West Coast since 3 September and its mounting humanitarian impact.
The statement highlights the growing displacement of civilians, serious protection concerns for people on the move, and increasing challenges for humanitarian actors to safely reach those in need. The organisations call on all parties to respect and uphold international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, ensure safe and sustained humanitarian access, and support an inclusive, Yemeni-led political process towards lasting peace.
