New Report: Afghanistan's Emergency Response Coordination System - Capacity and Needs Assessment
In support of ACBAR’s strategic mandate to support improved coordination at the national and sub-national level, a report – Afghanistan’s Emergency Response Coordination System – Capacity and Needs Assessment has recently been completed. ACBAR commissioned this assessment with two key goals in mind: to provide a general review of the efficacy of the emergency coordination response mechanism through the lens of NGO engagement and involvement, and to provide ACBAR clear recommendations on how we can better support our members and the broader NGO community to more substantively contribute to effective emergency response, while working in alignment with existing coordination mechanisms and actors.
The report highlights numerous findings and key recommendations. These include, crucially, the importance of improving emergency preparedness and readiness among front-line national and local NGOs, promoting better communication methods, improving overall inclusivity, and increasing substantive engagement from communities in emergency preparedness.
